Mangkutana and Palopo Mission Trip, SOS Makassar Holds Free Medical Check Up

Responding to one of the Sahabat Orang Sick (SOS) work programs for the Eastern Indonesia Region, namely Mission Trips to cities and areas in Eastern Indonesia that have held SOS Training in order to revive the spirit of service and apply the same service pattern as a form of development that has an impact on cities and areas, in this intimate area, and starting from Makassar City, South Sulawesi.

The chairman of SOS Makassar, Jasin Effrien Boenardi, via his cellphone to eBahana, after the Mission Trip activities carried out in the Mangkutana and Palopo Areas (07/10/19), said that this activity had started 30/09 – 04/10/2019, and started from Palopo City. “We, the Makassar City SOS Team of Seven visited Palopo and Mangkutana. In Palopo, there was a 3-night fellowshipwith the management, followed by visits to the hospital and patient’s home, as well as with Mangkutana. “We had time to hold free health checks in the form of blood pressure and blood sugar checks as well as donations of blood sugar kits,” he explained.

It was said that the purpose of this mission trip was to raise up servants in the area to serve and visit patients who were physically weak and needed a helping hand. “Praise God, after we held a mission trip to Palopo and Mangkutana, in Palopo they are active in social media, which they use to communicate, individually or in groups, they are increasingly active in serving visits to hospitals and patient homes,” he said.

Boernardi hopes that with this mission trip visit, a committee can be formed which later can coordinate further with SOS Makassar as the service center for South Sulawesi, to conduct more training in areas that have not been touched by SOS services. “We hope, after the formation of Area management, especially in Palopo and Mangkutana, there will be more schedule in the future and the number of participants is increased, so that when their seriousness and loyalty in SOS, will be sent to attend the SOS academy in Singapore and Training for Trainers (TOT) for speaker needs Eastern Indonesia Regional Training, ”continued Boernardi.

Mean while, Ev, Jhon Sonda Patu, who was contacted by the media via his cell, as an alumni of the 133rd SOS Academy, who had the opportunity to share experiences in his testimony, starting with the SOS vision, which is to become a light for the sick, which has an impact on cities, and the SOS mission, to train to serve the sick to be strong, to serve the sick and be a blessing to the cities. “SOS has a vision and mission that emphasizes that its service is not just an ordinary visit but a friend who can comfort and strengthen patients until they are recovered,” he explained. In addition, Patu continued, he also emphasized the matter of Chaplaincy, whose material was only obtained at the 11th SOS Anniversary in Singapore.
